Home: Welcome

I have been a radio and TV presenter for fifty years, working for the BBC & Sky, and for other commercial broadcasters in the UK and Ireland. I present shows involving music, news and sports, and I also host black-tie and awards events, and conferences. Within my local community I am also Chair of Healthwatch Coventry.

I began broadcasting in the 60s in hospital radio before becoming a contributor to BBC Local Radio when it started. I worked for the then new commercial radio stations, Radio Hallam in Sheffield in 1974, and Mercia Sound in Coventry in 1980.

At Mercia, I was appointed Managing Director and Programme Controller, before returning to the BBC in the 90s.

I have presented the television programmes "Midlands Today" and "The Midlands At Westminster" for BBC television, and I have also worked for Sky Sports, BBC Radio 5 Live, TalkSport, and other commercial broadcasters in the UK and in Ireland.

I was made MBE for services to broadcasting in 1995, receiving my medal from Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace. Coventry University awarded me an Honorary MA in 1999 in recognition of my work as a broadcaster and services to the community in Coventry and Warwickshire.

I won three Sony Radio Academy Awards in the UK - one of them the Gold Award for the UK's best Speech Based Breakfast Show (at BBC WM in 1997). At the International Radio Festival of New York, I received Gold and Brronze Awards respectively for the programme formats of Mercia Sound and Leicester Sound.
